KDPA awards 2004 scholarship to Key West High graduate

The Key Deer Protection Alliance awarded one of its annual scholarships of $500 to Ms. Joanna McClellan of Key West High School.  A member of the scholarship committee also formally presented the recipient with a framed certificate of recognition during her school's recent awards assembly.  The applicant had been judged on the basis of scholarship, school/community service, and the recommendations of school and other officials.  The scholarship is intended to support college bound graduates who plan careers in the biological sciences or areas of environmental protection. Ms. McClellan lives in Key West and plans a career in biological research.  She has a record of volunteer work in choirs and family crusades.  She was also active in school organizations such as the concert choir and played a leading role in the school’s Academic Challenge Team.

Ms. McClellan anticipates attending Southeastern College.

The Key Deer Protection Alliance congratulates her parents and her school for an outstanding role in guiding the student to this achievement.
